After much anticipation and frustration watching OTHER western ski hills open early and with record snowfall (Screw you, Whistler!), our beloved mountain is finally turning the lifts.

It was cold as hell on opening day with a high of somewhere around 6 degrees, but all that meant was that it was impossible to wipe the frozen smile off your face.

Chairs 1, 2 and 5 were running though coverage was a bit sketchy in places. The FrontCountry Park was open with three features (15-foot down box, 20-foot rainbow box and 20 foot culvert). Park Nazi Schulz is out in the cold, as I type, adding more stuff … I wouldn’t be surprised to find a six-feature line out there Saturday morning. Gonna need A LOT more snow before we can start pushing tables and what not.

It looks like temps are rising, however, and snow is in the forecast starting Saturday afternoon, so Sunday could be pretty nice … and NEXT Powder Thursday looks promising. Ski ya out there!
