On Saturday, Dec. 8, LTParks officially launched its 2007/08 season with a pleasantly successful Rock Jam Sausage Slam. Nearly 50 skiers and boarders showed up to compete for early-season honors to a soundtrack of Indiana Jones and brain-thumping house beats – courtesy of a certain terrain park manager’s iPod (and a PA supplied by Electronic Sound and Percussion). After an impressive hour of qualifying runs, the finalists were announced and things were underway. PHOTOS
Division Winners…
17 & Under Skiing – LT regular Estes took the young skiers division. Flat Down – 270 on, 270 the kink, 270 off.
17 & Under Snowboard – Another local, Riley bested the young snowboard division competition. Down Box – front board; board to front board.
18 & Over Skiing – Willy Pete probably had to take a break to shake the dizzies after slaying a stacked older ski division. Flat Down – 270 on, 270 the kink, 270 the down, 270 off.
18 & Over Snowboard – James took the old-man snowboard division with style. Flat Down – gap-the-flat frontside 270 to front board the down.
Women’s Snowboard – Katy conquered a tough field in the women’s division. Flat Down – 50/50 to board.
After the Jam, the Sausage Slam was convened. While there was disappointment over a surprising number of registrants flaking out, a calvary of rail jam competitors picked up the slack and manned the wiener-table. In a 5-minute battle of stomachs, Lance prevailed by downing 3.5 dogs w/buns.
Ha Ha. You’ve probably noticed that nobody’s got a last name. That’s because we spaced bringing the paperwork down the hill with us this evening. We’ll get it updated tomorrow (Sunday) so check back, Dun.
Big-time thanks going out to our main man, #1 groomer/rail-builder Justin Bociek. Justin hand-built every box featured at this weekend’s rail jam and will be rolling out more quality, creative creations as the season progresses (currently on tap: “Hood Banked” C-Box, inverse rainbow box).
Also, mega-thanks to this weekend’s sponsors: Edge of the World, Red Bull, Howling Moon Salsa, Albertsons and, last but certainly not least, Bill, Scott and Judy Grasser at Lost Trail Powder Mountain. (Without whom there IS NO WINTER).
Remember! This is only the beginning of what looks to be a phenomenal season at Lost Trail. Get ready for the 2nd Annual Lost Trail Rail Series which begins in January and runs through March. For more info check the COMPS page! Peace!!
